The below Sweeney Todd poster turned up for auction on E-Bay. Naughty but nice and well outside of my price range.
In other Todd news, a piece in Variety has confirmed that an R-rating is indeed expected for the film, with no mention of any plans to cut it down to PG-13. Which suggests either that Baz Bamigboye is a liar, or he's mistaken or he was telling the truth and, in his world at least, an 18 translates to an NC-17 and a 15 to an R.

Here's a nice big version of the new No Country For Old Men Poster. Click upon it for expansion.
I expect the UK poster will be very different - they've got months to ready it, anyway. Sigh.

Below you can see the poster for The Darjeeling Limited. I assume that as you're here, at my site, the platform for me to present whatever I chose and comment on it how I wish, you're at least expecting me to share my opinion on it.
I think it is every bit as bland and predictable as the Life Aquatic poster. At least the Royal Tennebaums poster came early enough to sneak out before this limited visual style had been fully mapped five times over. Yawn.
Rushmore was, by and large, great. Before that, Bottle Rocket was pretty promising. Everything else Anderson has dropped on us has been indulgent, confused, often meandering, self-obsessed tripe. I expect more of the same from this. Anderson is like Woody Allen at his worst but in the grip of some utterly frustrating, narrowing and self-defeating visual and verbal fetishes. What he can do well is misapplied anyway, so his films end up having a very limited reach.
Oh, and, if you were wondering Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows ends with the boy wizard turning into a bowl of geraniums while Rincewind the wizard curses the Statue of Liberty and damns Atticus Finch to hell.

They brought The Simpsons Movie forward one more day in the UK. So that means we'll get it as of next Wednesday. Here's the revised poster art, just to hammer the message home.

The trailer for Mark Waters' Spiderwick Chronicles is available now in smaller, standard or larger normal definition Quicktime or 480p, 720p or 1080p high-definition. Remember to right-click and rename the file something like bridgetoterabithiatwo.mov if you want it to work.

The full set of billboard images at Film Focus make for some good browsing. Here's my favourites: a nice look at Grendel from Beowulf - the character Crispin Glover will be playing; Horton Hears a Who; something from The Spiderwick Chronicles, which intrigues me a little as Mark Waters is directing and it's just outside his comfort zone.

The Simpsons Movie has been yanked forward a day for the UK release to Thursday 26th July. I think that puts us ahead of the US. In order to celebrate this, here's the new one-sheet.

I'm told that this is the official teaser poster for The Dark Knight. What do you think?
It isn't great - the logo is too low, it should be higher for sake of balance. Which alone makes me suspicious. And then there's the font. But it may well be real - I've seen plenty of teaser posters this dodgy before now.

I haven't put many posters up lately, but a good few have turned up all the same. Here are a whole bunch I've been e-mailed or have gathered from the press sites of various distributors. Your favourite?

Mike Markus found the following poster for The Invasion, at least part directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, possibly with a late substitution of the Wachowskis. It looks like the plot either features a mother abandoning a child during a zombie-alien invasion, the child being taken away during said time or - and this is entirely possible, knowing the logic in films like this - a note written by a mother to the child she has already been seperated from even though she doesn't know where this child is. How is she going to deliver the note? Broadcast it on TV?
It's hardly spoiler material then. But it does sound rather War of the Worlds, don't you think?
And what are the odds on this being Nicole Kidman's real handwriting?

Aint it Cool have the very, very big version of the Golden Compass poster you can see below. Oh... and those reshoots I was telling you about? Turns out they're taking place in Switzerland. Fans of the book will instantly be able to surmise that this indicates reshoots for the end of the movie, not the earlier scenes.
Thanks to 'The Man' for the tip-off. And sorry to 'The Man' for calling him that.
Of course, they can't be changing the end. Can they? Nah. Probably more action stuff.

For some reason, Blogger keeps crashing every time I try to post this story - so I'll keep it short. Here's the stripped down, can't-believe-I'm-typing-this-again version:
K-Mart are offering a set of 2 limited edition and eminently collectible Spider-Man 3 posters to one lucky competition winner. If you aren't the lucky winner, you'll have to get to K-Mart in a hurry - the first poster is only available until this Sunday inclusive (29th April), the second only until next Saturday inclusive (5th May). After that... well, you don't really want to be forced to pay e-bay prices, do you? Get your skates on, poster afficianados.
To win a pair of posters, all you have to do is look at the Spider-Man 3-related image at the bottom of this post and then identify the film ick news story it originally appeared in. E-mail me with the headline to that story before midnight next Tuesday, 1st May - and we'll say that's US West Coast Time to give you late risers a chance.
The winner will be announced on Wednesday.

This Japanese billboard for Spider-Man 3 is in a similar style to much of the recent poster work, but I don't think we've seen this particular pose before.
Click on it for full size symbiote/angst action.
