Movie Minesweeper - The Blue And Red Marker Pens Edition

- Cartoon Brew have linked to an interesting video. An abandoned cave in Cody, Montana apparently bears the signature of Walt Disney. Could it really be real?

- Amy Pascal at Sony is softening us up for the future of the Spider-Man franchise: stand alone narratives with different creatives and, every now and then, a new actor in the lead. Spider-Man 4 is to be the On Her Majesty's Secret Service of the series, I suppose.

- Regal Cinema's Complain-o-tron is finally going wide.

- Mark Verheiden has the job of writing a Teen Titans movie. Who do you get to direct that? Not Victor Salva, obviously... but who?

- The remake of Midnight is to be written by Michael Arndt and will star Reese Witherspoon in the Claudette Colbert role. The original is really very, very, very good so, of course, I'm nervous about this but, well, Arndt and Witherspoon? Seems to be working out very well so far.

- After finishing Sugar, Ryan Fleck will adapt Special Topics in Calamity Physics from Marisha Pessl's novel. He's also attached to an adatation of Ned Vizzini's It's Kind of a Funny Story. I really have to track down Half Nelson and see if all of this is something to get excited about or not.

- The Weinsteins are to release Woody Allen's Cassandra's Dream. It was looking pretty hairy for the film for a while with no buyers stepping up (or at least, not as far as anybody knew) but at least it should get a decent release now.

- The remake of The Women is finally set to go ahead. I'm quite disappointed Todd Haynes isn't directing, but fingers crossed for Diane English anyway, despite her suspicious cast list: Meg Ryan, Eva Mendes, Jada Pinkett Smith, Anette Bening, Candace Bergen and Debra Messing.

Details Of Even More Feature Films From Pixar

After the Gary Rydstrom piece earlier, we did a little googling and ended up to the Screenwriting Expo site - and what did we learn there? Details of the creatives on even more upcoming Pixar feature films. Here's a full run down of every mention given to Pixar on the site...

Mark Andrews is on the staff of Ratatouille.

Michael Arndt is described as '
a writer at Pixar Animation Studios' - we know already that he's working on Toy Story 3.

Jim Capobianco is "
currently working on the development of Gary Rydstrom’s original feature film".

Brenda Chapman is now "
developing an original feature film for Pixar as a director".

Mary Coleman teaches "
acting for Pixar University".

Ronnie del Carmen is "
currently working in development on Peter Docter’s original feature film".

Jason Katz is "
currently working in development on Lee Unkrich’s original feature film".

Irene Mecchi is "
developing a movie with director, Brenda Chapman, at Pixar Animation Studios".

Kiel Murray is "
working with Gary Rydstrom, helping to develop his original feature film".

Toy Story 3 Is Now Set For 2010 - So What Will Be Coming From Pixar In 2009?

Lee Unkrich has spoken to Entertainment Weekly about Toy Story 3 and let slip some fascinating details.

For example, the film isn't due for release until 2010, not 2009 as was previously reported. This means that another, different film from Pixar will come following W.A.L-E. Looking at all available evidence, this one is most likely to be Pete Docter's new film. It appears to have been in development for at least a couple of years now and is still completely and utterly secret - apart from the fact that, according to comments in an old Splinecast at least, the lead character is a human adult.

Michael Arndt has been working with Pixar on the Toy Story 3 script since before Little Miss Sunshine was sold at Sundance last year: those Pixar folk, they can smell talent half a world away, I tell you.

Who Is Writing Toy Story 3? And What Is Going To Happen To Chris Sanders An American Dog?

Reuters have the straight scoop from a Disney-Pixar press conference. Most exciting news? That Lee Unkrich is directing Toy Story 3 from a script by Michael Arndt, the screenwriter of Little Miss Sunshine. Unkrich is Pixar's master of montage and was a co-director on Toy Story 2.

Several clips and pre-production reels were shown from a number of films, including Ratatouille, Wall-E, Toy Story 3 and Chris Sanders' feared-dead An American Dog.

Ed Catmull confirmed that hand-drawn animation was indeed retruning to Disney, but that the 'main studio', Walt Disney Feature Animation, would also be making CG films quite seperately from Pixar's.

I'd open a bottle of champagne if I had one.
